Account & Data Deletion
Last Updated: February 6, 2026
At HitchHive, we respect your right to control your personal data. This page explains how you can delete your account, request a copy of your data, or exercise other rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You do not need to be logged in to submit a request.
What Happens When You Delete Your Account
When you request account deletion, the following actions are taken:
- Profile information removed — your name, bio, profile photo, and any other personal details are permanently deleted.
- Location history erased — all location data associated with your account is permanently deleted.
- User content removed — posts, photos, and other content you created within the app are permanently deleted.
- Account permanently deactivated — your account is closed and cannot be recovered.
Data That May Be Retained
In limited circumstances, we may be required to retain certain data even after your account is deleted:
- Transaction and billing records — if you made purchases through the app, we may retain financial transaction records for up to 7 years as required by Belgian tax and accounting law (Code des sociétés et des associations / Wetboek van vennootschappen en verenigingen).
- Legal obligations — data necessary to comply with a legal obligation, respond to legal claims, or fulfill regulatory requirements may be retained for the period required by law.
Any retained data is kept only for the specific legal purpose and is not used for any other reason.
Active Subscriptions
Deleting your HitchHive account does not automatically cancel any active subscriptions. Before requesting account deletion, please cancel your subscription directly through:
- Apple App Store: Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions > HitchHive > Cancel Subscription
- Google Play Store: Google Play > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > HitchHive > Cancel subscription
If you do not cancel your subscription before deleting your account, you may continue to be charged by Apple or Google.
